We asked some questions to our teachers to describe briefly the story of the project the Rex liner ship.
Q: How did the idea of studying the Rex start ?
A: All started from a co-operation among some teachers of I.T.I.S. A. Gastaldi and the Ansaldo Historical Archives (AHA) in Genoa. After a preliminary visit and a series of researches about the materials available at the archives, we found out that miscellaneous various and plenty materials (texts, photos, films and drawings) all referring to the Rex were available. From here the idea to realize a hypertext come out suddenly. Without forgetting the success of the Titanic film, let us will well hope students would accept it enthusiastically.
Q: How did you organised your work ?
A: The first stage was reserved for teachers. During two or three visit to the AHA, the available materials was taken in examination. Successively we chose the classes which would have been involved in the project: form 3A Informatico and form 3 Scientifico tecnologico. Both the classes visit the AHA and chose the material to use for the hypertext. The greatest part of the work was developed at school, in the multimedia laboratory during the lessons.
Q: Which judgement could be given on the work of product a hypertext ?
A: It doesn't always happen to see students standing still and attentive for hours examining the archives materials, or That they spend the whole morning (at school), collecting and organising materials in a multimedia form. These two result would be already sufficient for us teachers to portray positive the whole experience. The final product has not to be forgotten: at the beginning, non of us would have hoped in a so beautiful, pleasant and rich project.
Congratulation students on your successful attempt!
